My Blogging Experience

So I hear everyone talking about how a wonderful experience,
setting up and running a blog can be. I have yet to experience this
supposed "wonderful feeling". Maybe because I only started to blog
about 2 days ago. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until I finished
creating my free blogsite and published my first post on
blogger.com, that I came to the bitter realization that this
experience cannot be that so much "FUN" altogether...

Creating a blogsite can be embarassingly easy (too simple for my
liking, even!...took me not more than 10 minutes to get my free
blogsite up and running and to publish my first post in addition).
Infact, as I have come to notice, this is probably the part that
everyone talks about as fun...Google has certainly done a wonderful
work with blogger free web hosting platform. With the blogger
platform, just about anyone (and of course I mean ANYONE!) can have
an online presence. Any person with sufficient proficiency in the
English language (not to mention the fact that blogger exists in
other major languages)can have a blogsite (or a website at that)
courtesy Google. Even a greenhorn like me could do it so why
couldn't anyone else?

The hard part actually comes in striving to keep the blog
running. The regular maintenances, administrative changes, and
ensuring a decent and original content are what make blogging seem
like one hell of a task! And it becomes even more difficult when
you are a complete novice on computer matters like me. Honestly,
thinking about it alone is intimidating, but hopefully things will
become more fun as time goes...

A long time ago (as long as 2008), I longed to have a blogsite.
I was doing little researches in school on how to go about creating
and hosting one. For the fact that I had very little money (infact
NONE at the time!...lol), I narrowed down my search to include only
the truly free blog hosting platforms. The first free blog hosting
platform that pops up on Google search is blogger. (Whether it's
because it belongs to Google or maybe because it's actualy the most
appropriate, I am not quite sure which. But I definitely took that
advantage!). Now, with my new free blogsite in place (all thanks to
Google), I hope to be able to make myself heard (or read)on the
internet. And more importantly, I hope to reach the entire world
(What does it cost to dream, huh?)...
My blog which I aptly named Classic Page, is meant to provide
all round information and entertainment bits. On that note, I
honestly don't think it a bad idea to start with my mission right
here and NOW!
This one is for newbies like me, who may seriously want to have
a blogsite but don't know where to start. The simple truth is,
there are a thousand and one articles out there that have been
specifically written about this same topic. And while this one does
not claim to be an exhaustive guide, I'll still try to give a
breakdown of the basics of creating a blog.
First,you need to log on to the website 'blogger.com'. Perhaps,
the most important fact to state here first is that, one needs to
have an account with Google before anything. So you might want to
create a Google account first before proceeding. When you log in to
blogger, you will be prompted to provide your email and password
(the ones you just registered with Google). Input these and sign
in, the next page will require your blog name/title and your blog
address/URL. Type the name you want for your blog (the blog address
is subject to availability...that means that if someone else has
already used it, then you cannot use it. So you need to employ your
creativity here) and continue. The next page will show you a list
of blog templates to choose from. Choose any of the templates
(don't forget that you can still change it later, if for any reason
you like to) and click continue. The next page will alert you that
your blog has been created, with links enquiring whether you want
to start posting or want to customize your blog. You may like to
publish a post just to see.
This is just the beginning of blogging. There's a lot to learn
on the way. And the good thing is that one can blog about anything.
One doesn't need to have become a genius in order to blog. Even the
so called 'Master Bloggers' are still learning.................so I
say give it a shot and let's move together in this wonderful trip
called BLOGGING!
